On a warm spring night in London's Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, over a thousand people have filled the Victoria & Albert Museum for the announcement of the winner of the year's Prix Pictet. The prestigious award, sponsored by a Swiss private bank and presented by Kofi Anan, attracts an international elite of collectors, curators, and critics. Since I'm up for the award, friends from all over the city have come to join me. One of them finds me in the crowd and says he just saw Hans Ulrich Obrist talking to someone as they looked at one of my monumental pieces.
"What was he saying?" I ask, keen to know if the work impressed His Holiness Hans.
"He just said, 'Mishka who?'"
